Alternative
Lech – St. Anton

Via Stuttgarter Hütte to Zürs and with the bus to St. Anton

The start of the tour follows the original route of the Arlberg Trail Lech – St. Anton. From the mountain station of the Rüfikopf cablecar, the trail first leads downhill into the “Ochsengümple”. Numerous sources sprout from the grassy soil. Across meadows of cotton grass, the trail slowly becomes steeper towards the “Rauhkopfscharte”. From an altitude of 2,410m, you can already see the intermediate destination: Stuttgarter Hütte. The path is almost flat on the Tyrolean side until it reaches the Alpine Club Hut of the Swabian section. From here on, the Arlberg Trail separates from the easier alternative. There is enough time for a leisurely stop at the hut. The trail then leads along flower meadows downhill into Pazieltal. The mountain river is crossed and a short ascent in the opposite direction follows to the Trittalpe (not open). From there, the trail continues on an asphalt road to Zürs, where the post bus provides further transport to St. Anton am Arlberg.
